πŸ‘€ What is happening in this pic? 😱 I'll explain. @uwimonaguild hosted a media event last Friday to launch a critical campaign called #notaskingforit. The #notaskingforit campaign is aimed at ending rape culture on campus and rape culture surrounding Jamaica's carnival season. We were an invited panel that consisted of 1 lawyer (plus 2 bonus lawyers), 1 gender specialist, 1 psychologist, 1 campaign creator, and 1 me to provide a decolonial/feminist pop culture view. I stand by every word I said: "unwanted sexual encounters are too normalized in our culture" and "sexual abuse laws are either designed to protect criminals or criminals wrote the sexual abuse laws to protect themselves" and "UWI needs to do more work in the male halls because my female students shouldn't fear walking near Chancellor Hall." . Do your part and support the campaign because victims don't rape themselves #notaskingforit . . . πŸ“· @jamaicaobserver . Many thanks to @sincerelywizana for the invite @wenalebir @hasanibazodee and my dear friend @touchofallright for sending me this highlighted pic today. πŸ˜‚
